Lysosome

The Lysosome is between 0.25 and 0.5 micrometers in diameter.  This is the site of cellular digestion.  It is filled with hydrolytic enzymes that will digest food materials as the cell ingest material through phagocytosis.  The organelle will fuse with the food vesicles as they bring food into the cell.  The enzyme in the Lysosome is also responsible for degrading the cell after the cell dies.
